Star Wars: Project Blackwing Horror Game

If you know me, you know I’m a Star Wars nerd with a soft spot for anything undead. So making my own Star Wars horror game; especially one inspired by the Blackwing virus from the expanded universe, has been the ultimate passion project.

Why Blackwing?

Star Wars has always flirted with horror (hello, wampa cave), but I wanted to push things off the deep end. Project Blackwing is my take on what happens when you mix stormtroopers, Imperial corridors, and pure survival horror. Think “Resident Evil by way of Tatooine.” Stormtroopers reanimated by a deadly virus, dark corridors, and that creeping dread that even Vader would nope out from.

How I Built It

  • Logo & Key Art: Created in Photoshop, channeling that grindhouse energy with bold reds and stark contrast.
  • Character & Creature Models: Built (and sometimes kitbashed from rips) in Blender, because nothing says “dedicated fan” like painstakingly sculpting zombie troopers until they haunt your dreams.
  • Gameplay & Atmosphere: All running in Unreal Engine 4. Lighting, environmental storytelling, and first-person tension are the priorities. I want players to feel genuinely unsafe, even when they think they’re alone.

What Makes It Work

  • Atmosphere First: Cinematic lighting, heavy shadows, and environments that actually feel lived-in (and died-in).
  • Creepy Creature Design: The infected troopers aren’t just zombies with helmets. They’re twisted, broken, and, let’s be honest, pretty gross.
  • Fan-Driven: This isn’t some corporate focus-tested slop. It’s built by a horror nut for fans who want to see Star Wars get weird and dark.

Tools Used

  • Photoshop (logo, promo material)
  • Blender (models, kitbashing, texturing)
  • Unreal Engine 4 (the whole experience)

The Why

Project Blackwing is for everyone who’s ever wondered what would happen if Star Wars let the horror off the chain. It’s a love letter to both universes, and a technical flex to show what’s possible when you mix fan obsession with game dev know-how.

If you’re into zombies, horror, Star Wars, or just want to talk monster design, hit me up. And remember: in space, no one can hear you scream… unless you’re in a trash compactor.
